Family Photos – with the dogs at Wonderland Lake in Boulder

I photographed this amazing family at Wonderland Lake in Boulder, Colorado.  The kids  had a great time running up and down the trail and the dogs enjoyed playing in the water. The mother of this family is the owner of Carley Barley, a local business in which she designs and creates baby clothes that are 100% organic and made with eco friendly dyes. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see some gorgeous babies modeling these adorable clothes. I photographed the images for the Carley Barley catalog and you can see more clothing and images here: www.carleybarley.com. Yay families!

Newborn Photography

Newborn babies are great to photograph as soon as you are ready.  They change quickly so bring them in for their photos before too much time goes by. The best time for your newborn portrait session is between seven and 14 days but if you do miss that time frame, pick a time that works best for you. I’m happy to do portrait sessions at your home if that makes life easier for you! This little guy took a couple of naps at my Boulder studio, which made for some wonderful poses.

Mango and Teagan

Mango and Teagan visited with me at my Boulder Photography Studio to have their portraits done. Quite the playful pair, these two live together with their humans in Longmont. Mango has a special job.  He is a therapy dog and he and his mom visit with patients at Longmont United Hospital to lift their spirits during difficult times. I really enjoyed playing them in the studio and giving them lots of treats in exchange for their fun and silly poses for the camera. They are both absolutely beautiful!

Fun in the Fall

This was my third family portrait session with this Boulder family and as usual, there were lots of laughs, playing and tail wagging. One of the best things about family photography is seeing families time and again and seeing how quickly their children grow. We had a perfect fall day full of colorful leaves to play with and to use for a beautiful background.

Family Portraits on the Mesa

Here are a few of my favorite images from a recent family portrait session I did at Davidson Mesa in Louisville, Colorado. If you go up there in the mid to late afternoon, the light from the west is blinding.  But wait just a little while, for the sun to tuck behind the mountains and it’s magical!  I had such a good time photographing this family and oohing and aahing over the light and colors of the sky.  The kids, and the dog, had a great time running around on the path and playing in the tall, dry grasses – and playing with mom and dad while I took lifestyle photos. I liked this photo location so much that I recently took my own family there for our family photos. That’ll be another blog post soon.

Lady Bug and Boomer

These two pups created lots of laughs at their pet portrait session in Louisville.  Both are seniors but had plenty of energy running around the yard, jumping for treats and Lady Bug, a Great Dane, especially liked showing off her “baby” stuffie.  Boomer is a Beagle and is now 10 1/2 years old!2016-0911-1071-8102016-0911-1092422016-0911-1041282016-0911-10092016-0911-1156-16x202016-0911-1043292016-0911-1026222016-0911-11152016-0911-10962016-0911-11792016-0911-1153562016-0911-11522016-0911-1052x2016-0911-1005112016-0911-11642016-0911-1177592016-0911-11052016-0911-117258-46

Six Years Old – A Walk In The Woods and Being With Grandma.

A few weekends ago I did a portrait session in Boulder with my bestie and her granddaughter. We took a walk in the woods, the tall grasses and hung out in my back yard while they played together. These lifestyle portrait sessions are really fun and I enjoy creating images of kids being kids while also creating some nice portraits.

A Toddler, A Dog and Twins

I had another action packed portrait session with this family recently in Boulder.  Their twin boys are now over a year old and their oldest child is just over three.  The dog Caribe is now eleven. The kids’ parents and I chased them around the front yard for an hour and a half capturing images of them at play. This was a good combination of a family portrait and a lifestyle session in which you photograph a family doing things together, rather than posing for photographs. I think these make great, memorable images to be enjoyed for years to come.  Even if they just remind you of how tired you were after the photo session!

The More the Merrier!

This family and pet portrait session shows that you can’t have too much love in the house! Dixie and Mike are parents to three lovely adult girls and eight dogs of all ages which means lots of dog walking and sloppy kisses. From small to large, shy to outgoing, the personalities among dogs was varied in great ways!  I made lots of loud noises while my assistant danced behind me to get everyone’s attention for our group photo. We successfully created a large family portrait to be remembered forever. Note: Sadly, since this session, the two Yorkies, Portia and Lucy passed away.  Hopefully the photos will help to bring some comfort.Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1053Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1054Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1055Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1056Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1057Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1058Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1059Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1060Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1061

Capturing the Bond.

On a recent pet portrait session, my goal was to capture the bond between Lyn and her best friend Lizzy and to also create an image in silhouette. The bond was obvious and could not be denied!  I was also lucky enough to have an amazing sunset and was able to get a silhouette showing their bond.2016-0621-109233-sm2016-0621-1017-sm2016-0621-116441-sm2016-0621-113938-x-sm2016-0621-1169-sm2016-0621-1040-sm2016-0621-1176-sm2016-0621-1006-sm2016-0621-114839-sm
