Annual Family Photos in Boulder, Colorado.

This is one of the many families that do an annual family portrait with me in Boulder, Colorado.  Annual portraits make the best keepsakes for your family to commemorate their growth, changes and wonderful memories. Don’t forget the dog!family-pictures-boulder-evie-photography-1034family-photographers-boulder-evie-photography-1006family-photographers-boulder-evie-photography-1018childrens-photography-boulder-evie-photography-103716family-portrait-photography-evie-photography-1030family-portrait-photos-boulder-evie-photography-1002kids-photography-evie-photography-1042family-portrait-photography-boulder-evie-photography-1054childrens-portraits-evie-photography-1072childrens-photos-boulder-evie-photography-106923boulder-portrait-photographer-evie-photography-1094boulder-family-photographer-evie-photography-113835family-photographer-boulder-evie-photography-1056best-portrait-photographer-boulder-evie-photography-1146family-photographers-boulder-evie-photography-112734kids-photography-boulder-evie-photography-1076family-portrait-photograhy-boulder-evie-photography-1101pet-photograhy-boulder-evie-photography-1158

Boulder Photo Session Benefiting the Longmont Humane Society.

Two senior bulldogs and their human parents, Amy and James, set out on a lovely afternoon in Boulder for their family portrait session.  The light was beautiful, the grass green and big toothy smiles set the scene.  Ludo, age 12 and his buddy Mara Jade, age 8 had fun sniffing the ground, being in the lime light and trying new poses to get the best shots.  Ludo doesn’t walk so well anymore, so his dad would just pick him up and carry him throughout our session, from scene to scene.  Mara Jade would waddle alongside to keep up. We got a ton of great images that their parents will have to commemorate the bond they have with their pups.  Amy and James were the highest bidders and won this photo session at the silent auction for Homeward Bound, a benefit for the Longmont Humane Society that was held earlier this year.  Each year I donate a session to the fundraiser along with a few prints.dog-photograhers-boulder-evie-photography-1026best-dog-photograher-boulder-evie-photography-101715pet-photos-boulder-evie-photography-1112best-pet-photographers-boulder-evie-photography-1049best-pet-photographers-denver-evie-photography-1011boulder-pet-photos-evie-photography-1111best-dog-photographer-boulder-evie-photography-1030pet-photos-boulder-evie-photography-1103pet-family-photographer-boulder-evie-photography-1120best-dog-photos-boulder-evie-photography-114938best-family-photography-boulder-evie-photography-1146

Family Portrait #6

I believe this was the sixth time I’ve done family portraits for this beautiful family since their oldest daughter was barely two years old.  I love documenting a family’s growth through the years and providing them with images to remember many of their wonderful moments.  When I photograph a family with children, I of course photograph them all together but I also photograph just the kids together, each individual child, and each child alone with each parent.  I think that when each child becomes an adult they will not only cherish their family photos but will also cherish the images they have of just themselves with their mother or father.  These images prove to be intimate and memorable and express the feelings they shared for each other in their young lives. I also make sure to do a portrait of just mom and dad together. These portraits were done on campus in Boulder, Colorado.

Newborn Photography

I had a really fun newborn portrait and family photography session in my Boulder studio a few months ago. I did a combination of just the baby, the baby with each family member, the family all together and some macro images of baby parts – a must have with newborn photography sessions. This little guy gave us some great opportunities to capture images of him sleeping and being fully awake.

Fun in the Fall

This was my third family portrait session with this Boulder family and as usual, there were lots of laughs, playing and tail wagging. One of the best things about family photography is seeing families time and again and seeing how quickly their children grow. We had a perfect fall day full of colorful leaves to play with and to use for a beautiful background.

Family Portraits on the Mesa

Here are a few of my favorite images from a recent family portrait session I did at Davidson Mesa in Louisville, Colorado. If you go up there in the mid to late afternoon, the light from the west is blinding.  But wait just a little while, for the sun to tuck behind the mountains and it’s magical!  I had such a good time photographing this family and oohing and aahing over the light and colors of the sky.  The kids, and the dog, had a great time running around on the path and playing in the tall, dry grasses – and playing with mom and dad while I took lifestyle photos. I liked this photo location so much that I recently took my own family there for our family photos. That’ll be another blog post soon.

A Toddler, A Dog and Twins

I had another action packed portrait session with this family recently in Boulder.  Their twin boys are now over a year old and their oldest child is just over three.  The dog Caribe is now eleven. The kids’ parents and I chased them around the front yard for an hour and a half capturing images of them at play. This was a good combination of a family portrait and a lifestyle session in which you photograph a family doing things together, rather than posing for photographs. I think these make great, memorable images to be enjoyed for years to come.  Even if they just remind you of how tired you were after the photo session!

The More the Merrier!

This family and pet portrait session shows that you can’t have too much love in the house! Dixie and Mike are parents to three lovely adult girls and eight dogs of all ages which means lots of dog walking and sloppy kisses. From small to large, shy to outgoing, the personalities among dogs was varied in great ways!  I made lots of loud noises while my assistant danced behind me to get everyone’s attention for our group photo. We successfully created a large family portrait to be remembered forever. Note: Sadly, since this session, the two Yorkies, Portia and Lucy passed away.  Hopefully the photos will help to bring some comfort.Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1053Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1054Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1055Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1056Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1057Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1058Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1059Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1060Pet-Dog-Photography-Boulder-2014-1061

Growing Families

Jax, a bouncing baby boy, joined his three sisters for the family’s annual photo session in Boulder. The girls had a great time showing off their new baby brother and just being silly for a few of their own portraits.  Over the years, each girl has taken turns doing a “tea party” photo using the same tea party table and chairs that their mother was photographed with when she was a girl.  I’ve included a couple of these precious images!

Capturing the Bond.

On a recent pet portrait session, my goal was to capture the bond between Lyn and her best friend Lizzy and to also create an image in silhouette. The bond was obvious and could not be denied!  I was also lucky enough to have an amazing sunset and was able to get a silhouette showing their bond.2016-0621-109233-sm2016-0621-1017-sm2016-0621-116441-sm2016-0621-113938-x-sm2016-0621-1169-sm2016-0621-1040-sm2016-0621-1176-sm2016-0621-1006-sm2016-0621-114839-sm
